The Studio
Sound Mind Studios is the recording studio of First United Brethren in Christ Church in Holly Hill, run as a ministry of the church and managed since 2003 by its pastor, Matt McKeown.[1][2] Its earliest dated session is the Daytona Beach metalcore band The Autumn Offering, who tracked the drums for their 2003 demo there,[3] and in 2005 Mark Ignoffo of Reel Time recorded, mixed and mastered Redboy's album Save Me in the room.[4] In 2012 the Daytona Beach News-Journal found the studio tucked behind a thrift store in Holly Hill, where McKeown, a songwriter whose rock tracks had run on televised NFL and NASCAR coverage, wrote a short song for the city of Palm Coast.[5] Later credits include gospel and country records by Bill Godwin Jr. in 2016 and 2017.[6] The studio now works from the church's building at 1246 Ridgewood Avenue, recording music and ADR from $50 an hour, and studio C is home to Chariot Sound.[7][8]
